Maine Court Appointed Special Advocates seeks Volunteers: CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed members of the court. Appointed by judges, CASA volunteers typically handle just one case at a time—and commit to staying on that case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. Training, supervision and ongoing support provided. Are you ready to stand up for a child who needs you? For more information contact Volunteer Coordinator Terri Gallant @ 287-5830 or e-mail: Terri.L.Gallant@maine.gov

To Debbie,
I see from your note of April 23rd that you are interested in volunteering and looking for opportunities. I don't know where you are located so I recommend that you contact Senior Spectrum at 1-800-639-1553 and ask to be connected with the center nearest you. Every center has opportunities and we would love to include you in many other activities as well as volunteering. Hopefully, you are in the Waterville area...I would love to speak with you. Carmen

I am rather new to the area and would like to get involved. Is there a central volunteer coordinator, or a list anywhere of volunteer positions available? I am somewhat limited in physical ability, but am still able to drive.

Want something to do with your spare time? Why not volunteer. There are many opportunties out there and the Cohen Center would love to have you on their team. Call Lynda at 626-7777 or stop by and check us out.

I agree Paul that volunteering to help others and also be a blessing. My volunteerism though is different. Playing my keyboard and singing songs in 7 different nursing homes in my area,as well as do crafts making things for the ones in the nursing homes. However, I am not able to do it now at least for a while because I injured myself. But boy do I miss it. Because watching there faces light up as we [the group]sing and perform is so rewarding. And they are so greatful even just for the visit.
Thanks for reading, NOW participate! You won't be sorry to all you that read this.

Volunteering as an AARP Driver Safety Instructor and a member of the Senior Spectrum Board of Directors has been very rewarding and enjoyable experience for me. Every retired person should find some organization or club that they can join and share the fun and fellowship of people like themselves. My wife has been a Meals on Wheel driver and active in other Senior activities like TRIAD and the SS local advisory council.
Try volunteering, you'll like it. PaulC
