Where do, or can, singles mingle?
As
much as we all hate to admit it, our mothers are always right. When it comes to
advice about meeting that special someone, my mom has often told me that ``it's
not the when, it's the who, and the where.''
If
you are single and you live in Maine,
the first thing you ask yourself is not ''When?'' or ''Who?'' It's ''Where?''
Where's the best place to meet a friend, companion or perhaps that special
someone: a place that’s safe, secure, and non-threatening; where a single person
can feel comfortable walking in the door for the first time.
What
are some of the atypical yet exceedingly obvious places where single people,
widowed, divorced or never married, men and women, gay and straight, hang out
just to enjoy themselves and share a pleasant conversation?
One
of my favorite places to meet people, while at the same time being able to
share my love for dancing, is at one off the many contra dances that are held
throughout the State of Maine and even the country almost every Friday and Saturday evening. For a listing of Maine’s
regular contra dance series go to: http://www.deffa.org/
Please post your comments below to share one or more of your favorite spots to mingle,
meet new friends and participate in one of your favorite activities.
Well....obviously there is not a place to "mingle while being single" in the area. No one commented on this and I have no idea either. My husband passed away in November 2008 after 16 years with Alzheimer's Disease but I "lost" him as a husband about 5 years before that. I have a profile on Match.com and Cupid.com and I am really, really, really careful who I even converse with on there. It is the only place I know to "see" people but it is also not the safest place to meet people.
Notify me when someone puts a singles club together in central Maine. Please and thank you!!
